​           School District Accomplishments During my Tenure

Ø  Established a recurring funding source for facilities maintenance so taxpayer investments are maintained for the long run

Ø  Graduation rates continue to improve

Ø  Established two Magnet Schools; one focused on the Arts in Central and one focused on STEM in Easley

Ø  Addressed teacher pay, nurse and bus driver pay, as well as coach, band and music director pay supplements that were cut or frozen during the recession

Ø  7th in ACT scores and 4th in SAT scores in SC. Higher than the national AND state average SAT scores! 

Ø  Resolved accreditation issues

Ø  Funded an armed resource officer on every campus, and 1500 security cameras district wide to improve student and staff safety

Ø  Partnered with the Holly Springs community to convert Holly Springs Elementary into a community education facility

Ø  Resolved board prayer issue

Ø  Established policy for early teacher hiring to get the very best teachers in our classrooms

Ø  Invested in 15,000 Chromebook computers so each student has the latest technology

Ø  Upgraded hundreds of antiquated lighting fixtures to plasma design to reduce energy costs

Ø  Developed a separate facility at A.R Lewis for children with behavior problems- freeing up space at the Career Center for more career training options

Ø  Restored funding to band and music programs that were cut during the recession

Ø  Restored funding to the Career and Technology Center that was cut during the recession

Ø  Replaced traditional floor covering with polished concrete to reduce long term maintenance cost

Ø  Upgraded obsolete roofing and heating and air conditioning systems to reduce long term energy costs

Ø  Restored funding for activity bus maintenance and replacement that was cut during the recession

Ø  Partnered with Lakes and Bridges Charter School for Dyslexia- First such partnership in South Carolina

Ø  Expanded Career Center course offerings to meet industry needs and prepare our students for the future
